GUAIA es la madre en lengua Chibcha (de la Cultura Muisca, Colombia)
MESTIZA es la tierra que nos dio la vida.
El proyecto lo conforman un grupo de amigos que se encuentran por causalidad de la vida en Buenos Aires, Argentina; quienes lejos de su tierra natal vibran al ritmo de tambores, cantos y sonidos ancestrales.
Quieren transmitir y difundir la magia y energía que encierran las músicas tradicionales de la Costa Atlántica de Colombia para compartirlas con sus hermanos de Argentina, partiendo del profundo respeto y gratitud hacia las maestras y maestros que dedican y han dedicado su vida a cultivar un sentimiento común de armonía.
Basándose en estos ejemplos vivientes, investigan y aprenden con los estilos tradicionales de:
-Gaitas y Tambores: Sones de los montes de María, la mezcla de los ancestrales sabéres del tambor africano y las flautas gaitas (ancestralmente llamadas kuisis) indígenas colombianas, sentires hechos leyendas por excelentes agrupaciones como Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto, Bajeros de la Montaña, Gaitas y Tambores de San Jacinto, entre muchos otros.
-Bailes Cantados: Ritmos de marcada presencia africana con cantos que se han desarrollado entre las influencias africana, indígena ó autóctona y europea. Sonidos mágicos que han cultivado maravillosas cantaoras y sus agrupaciones como Totó la Momposína, Petrona Martínez,Estefania Caicedo, Etelvina Maldonado, Cayetano Camargo y su hija Martina Camargo, entre muchos otros.
